We are the third generation to live and farm at High Callis Wold.
After graduating with a BSc(hons) Mechanical Engineering in 1996
Mike decided his future lay at in farming and returned home to work
with his parents, Mark and Christine, at High Callis Wold. A strong
family interest in conservation and the environment lead to the
conversion of all of the livestock and around 50% arable land to
organic production in 1999, taking two years to become fully
organic. Today Mike lives with his wife, Kate, and two children,
Sam and Charlotte at High Callis Wold. Sam now works full time on
the farm and Charlotte combines a growing interest in agriculture
with her schoolwork.
Life is always busy as we farm around 1100 acres which includes cattle, sheep, organic and conventional crops. Mike manages the farm while Kate combines her veterinary physiotherapy business with managing our very own flour mill.
We are part of the Yorkshire Grain Alliance, a community of farmers, millers and bakers working to build a sustainable grain economy in Yorkshire.
